Nepal VISA Information

Nepal is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of bio-diversity due to its unique geographical position and latitudinal variation. The elevation of the country ranges from 60 m above sea level to the highest on earth,  Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) at 8,848 m, all within a distance of 150 km resulting into climatic conditions from sub-topical to Arctic.

Nepal occupying only 0.1% of the total landmass of the earth is home to:

  1. 2% of all the flowering plants in the world
  2. 8% of the world’s population of birds (more than 848 species)
  3. 4% of mammals on earth
  4. 11 of the world’s 15 families of butterflies (more than 500 species)
  5. 600 indigenous plant families
  6. 319 species of exotic orchids

Nepal VISA requirements

A valid passport and one passport size photo with a light background.

Visa can be obtained ON ARRIVAL through payment only in the following currency:

US Dollar, European Euro, UK Pound Sterling, Swiss Franc, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Singapore Dollar, Japanese Yen, Chinese Yuan, Saudi Arabian Riyal, Qatari Riyal, Thai Baht, UAE Dirham, Malaysian Ringgit, South Korean Won,  Swedish Kroner, Danish Kroner, Hong Kong Dollar, Kuwaiti Dinar and Bahrain Dinar.

International Credit Card are also accepted for payment of VISA Fee.

How to enter Nepal?

TOURIST VISA Fee

USD 30 – 15 Days (Multiple Entry)

USD 50 – 30 Days (Multiple Entry)

USD 125 – 90 Days (Multiple Entry)

USD 3 Per Day VISA Extension (within Valid VISA period)

USD 25 Additional VISA Extension (with Multiple Entry)

USD 5 Per Day Late Fee VISA Extension (After VISA Expiration)

Tourists can stay in Nepal for a maximum of 150 days in a VISA year (Jan 1 to Dec 31)

Gratis VISA (Free VISA)

  • Children below 10 years (except US citizens)
  • Upto 30 days for SAARC Citizen (except Afghanistan) visiting Nepal for the first time in a given VISA year. Afghan citizen are eligible for Gratis VISA on arrival only upon the recommendation of Department of Immigration. If you are an Afghan citizen, you can request concerned institution inviting you to Nepal for necessary paperwork with Department of Immigration to get you Gratis VISA on Arrival.
  • Non Residential Nepalese (NRN) card holder (issued by MoFA/Nepalese diplomatic missions abroad)
  • Chinese Nationals

However, following countries will not get Nepal VISA on arrival…….

Cameroon

Ethiopia

Ghana

Iraq

Liberia

Nigeria

Palestine

Somalia

Swaziland

Zimbabwe

Above countries need to obtain Nepal VISA from Nepalese Embassies or Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries prior to visit Nepal.
